By downloading, installing, or using ClipZen ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you and the ClipZen project. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, and such modifications will be effective immediately upon posting.
Open Source License
ClipZen is open source software distributed under the MIT License. You are granted the following rights:
- Use the App for personal or commercial purposes
- Modify the App's source code
- Distribute the App and your modifications
- Create derivative works based on the App
Restrictions
You may not:
- Remove or alter any copyright notices or attributions
- Use the ClipZen name or branding without permission
- Use the App for any illegal or harmful purposes
- Reverse engineer the App (except as permitted by law)
Proper Use
You are responsible for:
- Using the App in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Ensuring your Mac meets the system requirements
- Granting necessary permissions for the App to function
- Maintaining the security of your data
- Regularly backing up important clipboard data
Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use ClipZen to:
- Store, process, or manage illegal or harmful content
- Violate the privacy rights of others
- Circumvent security measures of other applications
- Interfere with the normal operation of macOS
ClipZen Intellectual Property
While ClipZen is open source, certain elements remain protected:
- The ClipZen name and logo are trademarks
- Original artwork and design elements
- Documentation and marketing materials
Your Content
You retain all rights to your clipboard data, screenshots, and other content processed by ClipZen. The App does not claim any ownership over your data.
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you maintain complete control and ownership of your content.
No Warranties
ClipZen is provided "as is" without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- Compatibility with all macOS versions or hardware
- Data integrity or backup reliability
Limitation of Liability
In no event shall the ClipZen project or its contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
- Loss of data or corruption of files
- System crashes or performance issues
- Privacy breaches or unauthorized access
- Business interruption or lost profits
System Permissions
ClipZen requires certain macOS permissions to function properly:
- Accessibility: To monitor clipboard changes
- Screen Recording: To detect screenshot creation
You are responsible for granting these permissions and understand that:
- These permissions are necessary for core functionality
- You can revoke permissions at any time through System Preferences
- Revoking permissions will limit or disable App functionality
- The App uses permissions only as documented
Software Updates
ClipZen may receive updates from time to time. While we strive to maintain backward compatibility:
- Updates are provided on a voluntary basis
- We cannot guarantee update availability or timing
- Updates may change functionality or requirements
- You are not required to install updates
Community Support
Support for ClipZen is provided by the community through:
- GitHub issues and discussions
- Community forums and resources
- Open source contributions
We do not provide official technical support or guarantees of assistance.
You may stop using ClipZen at any time by:
- Uninstalling the App from your Mac
- Revoking system permissions
- Deleting associated data files
We reserve the right to:
- Discontinue development of ClipZen
- Remove the App from distribution channels
- Modify or terminate these Terms
Your rights under the open source license will survive any termination.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction where the ClipZen project is maintained, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
