What We Collect
ClipZen does not collect any personal data. The app operates entirely locally on your Mac and does not transmit any information to external servers.
Local Data Storage
ClipZen stores the following data locally on your Mac:
- Clipboard history items (text, images, files)
- Screenshots detected by the app
- User preferences and settings
- App configuration data
All data is stored in your user's Library folder and is never transmitted over the internet.
Required Permissions
ClipZen requires the following macOS permissions to function properly:
- Accessibility: Required to monitor clipboard changes and provide clipboard history functionality
- Screen Recording: Required to detect when screenshots are taken and organize them automatically
How We Use Permissions
These permissions are used solely for the app's core functionality:
- Monitoring clipboard changes to maintain your clipboard history
- Detecting screenshot creation to organize them automatically
- Providing quick access to your clips and screenshots
We do not use these permissions to access any other data or perform any other monitoring.
Local-First Approach
ClipZen follows a strict local-first approach to data privacy:
- All data processing happens locally on your Mac
- No data is ever transmitted to external servers
- No internet connection is required for core functionality
- Your clipboard and screenshot data remains private to you
Data Encryption
Your data is protected by macOS's built-in security features:
- Data is stored in your protected user directory
- Files are encrypted using macOS FileVault (if enabled)
- Access is restricted to the ClipZen app only
ClipZen does not use any third-party services for data collection, analytics, or cloud storage. The app operates independently without external dependencies.
We do not integrate with:
- Analytics services
- Crash reporting services
- Cloud storage providers
- Advertising networks
- Social media platforms
Your Data, Your Control
Since all data is stored locally on your Mac, you have complete control:
- You can delete any clipboard items or screenshots at any time
- You can clear all app data through the app settings
- You can uninstall the app to remove all associated data
- You can revoke permissions at any time through System Preferences
Data Portability
Your data is stored in standard formats and locations, making it easy to:
- Back up your clipboard history
- Export your data if needed
- Access your files directly through Finder
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. When we do:

- We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy
- Significant changes will be communicated through app updates
